Forbes magazine<\/a> published an issue on 4 February in which it introduced 30 rising stars<\/a> of the Czech business scene (not only). As part of this special edition, Filip Ko\u0161\u0165\u00e1lek, the head programmer of Colours of Ostrava<\/strong>, was given the challenging task of curating a playlist of 30 tracks that best represent him.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Filip approached the selection with honesty and care. “I focused on songs that have shaped me over the years, as well as those that have been resonating with me recently. This playlist is very personal: it reflects my first concert, my high school days, my first encounters with Colours of Ostrava<\/a>, my wedding, my travel experiences, and my latest musical loves. Many fantastic tracks didn’t make the final cut, but perhaps they\u2019ll make it into the mix another time,” he shares. Here’s the final selection:<\/p>\n\n

Manu Chao Me Gustas Tu<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0<\/span>My first dance at my wedding. It carries a carefree, relaxed vibe.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Hermanos Guti\u00e9rrez: Tres Hermanos – <\/strong>My favorite song of the past few years. The Ecuadorian-Swiss brothers, in collaboration with Dan Auerbach, conjure an atmosphere with their guitars like no one else.<\/p>\n\n

Youssou N\u2019Dour: 7 seconds –\u00a0<\/strong>Seeing this African legend perform live in his homeland and being part of the crowd at the festival was an unforgettable experience.<\/p>\n\n

Stromae: papaoutai –\u00a0<\/strong>A dream artist with an incredible live show. I would love to see him at Colours someday.<\/p>\n\n

Woodkid: Iron<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0The first concert I remember from Colours of Ostrava, back in 2013.<\/p>\n\n

Sting: Englishman in New York –\u00a0<\/strong>A classic song. Will I finally get it out of my head when I hear it live this summer?<\/p>\n\n

Macklemore: Can\u2019t Hold Us –\u00a0<\/strong>Some festival years are harder than others. Macklemore is the perfect cure for anything bad \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n

Noga Erez: End Of The Road<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0I absolutely adore this rapper!<\/p><\/p>\n\n

Peso Pluma: Lady Gaga<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0One of the biggest stars of the Latin American scene. I saw her perform in Austin, and surrounded by 3,000 Mexicans, I felt like a giant.<\/p>\n\n

Kid Cudi, MGMT, Ratatat: Pursuit Of Happiness –\u00a0<\/strong>All the emotions I\u2019ve experienced seem to crystallize in this track.<\/p>\n\n

Charlotte de Witte: Overdrive –\u00a0<\/strong>My first pick for Colours, ahead of its time. Back then, she played for 3,000 people in a tent; now she headlines the biggest festivals.<\/p>\n\n

Justice, Tame Impala: Neverender –\u00a0<\/strong>If anyone can create a show like no other, it’s Justice. They push the boundaries of both music and stage design.<\/p>\n\n

Fred again..: Marea (We\u2019ve Lost Dancing) (feat. The Blessed Madonna)<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0Fred again.. at Primavera 2023 showed us what the crowds truly want: authenticity, simplicity, and carefree vibes.<\/p>\n\n

Brat\u0159i: Lost Juno<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0These Czech guys have the potential to break through internationally. I\u2019m really rooting for them!<\/p>\n\n

Polo & Pan: Canop\u00e9e<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0A few years ago, they brought a smile to our faces at Colours. Back then, not many knew about them.<\/p>\n\n

Sofi Tukker: Drinkee –\u00a0<\/strong>I loved the intro to the TV show The Young Pope, where this track played. Sofi and Tukker, however, offer musical journeys that take you beyond the Vatican.<\/p>\n\n

Purple Disco Machine: Hypnotized (feat. Sophie and the Giants) –\u00a0<\/strong>A track connected to my travels. The line “\u2019Cause I’ve been hypnotized by the lights \u2013 But I’m coming home, I’m coming back down tonight” captures my feelings perfectly.<\/p>\n\n

Judeline: zarcillos de plata\u00a0<\/strong>–\u00a0A fresh artist from Spain who\u2019s starting to shake up the festival scene. Are we witnessing the rise of the new Rosal\u00eda?<\/p>\n\n

Jelly Roll: Liar\u00a0<\/strong>–\u00a0I\u2019ve fallen for country music, and Jelly Roll is in my top three!<\/p>\n\n

Iggy Pop: The Passenger\u00a0<\/strong>–\u00a0I\u2019ve always been fascinated by legendary figures. Seeing Iggy at 77, performing one of the most energetic festival sets, was mind-blowing.<\/p>\n\n

DPR IAN: Don\u2019t Go Insane –\u00a0<\/strong>My journey into K-pop. DPR IAN has become an idol to the masses, now finding his way through artistic expression and a meticulous live show.<\/p>\n\n

Ektor: Pro \u0161t\u011bst\u00ed<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0I\u2019m part of Generation Rap. Ektor has been with me since high school, from Vid\u00edm to jako v\u010dera to his current work.<\/p>\n\n

Smack: Dal\u0161\u00ed rok\u00a0<\/strong>–\u00a0Back then, people laughed at the music I was listening to. But then Smack won several And\u011bl Awards.<\/p>\n\n

Vladimir 518: Planeta Praha (feat. Martin Sv\u00e1tek)<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0I\u2019m a proud Ostrava native, but even so, our capital, Prague, has its magic, full of both joy and pain.<\/p>\n\n

Lucie: \u0160rouby do hlavy\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>–\u00a0The first concert I remember attending with my parents as a child.<\/p><\/p>\n\n

Tata Bojs: Opakov\u00e1n\u00ed\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>–\u00a0Milan Cais, Mardo\u0161a, their manager Petra, and their entire crew are a constant source of fun for me. Mainstream, but also not. Catchy and yet original.<\/p><\/p>\n\n

Cheikh Lo: Degg Gui<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0This track reminds me of how lucky I am to have amazing friends all around the world. We spent nights together in Senegal after they won the Africa Cup, or when we watched traditional wrestling.<\/p>\n\n

Mark Eliyahu: Journey<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0Listen to it, and you\u2019ll understand why Mark is on my list. An incredible person and a phenomenal musician.<\/p><\/p>\n\n

Ibrahim Maalouf: Love Anthem<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0Just when I thought my passion for world music was fading, a gem like this comes along and completely redefines my playlist.<\/p><\/p>\n\n

Asaf Avidan: One Day \/ Reckoning Song (Wankelmut Remix)\u00a0<\/strong>–\u00a0“Baby, we’ll be old \/ And think of all the stories that we could have told.” That\u2019s what it\u2019s all about \u2013 living in a way that we never regret a single moment.<\/p>\n\n
